Sunnybank State High School opened in 1963.
The facilities have been developed to support the curriculum and include conventional learning areas and specialist facilities.
There are comprehensive computer facilities including computer laboratories, trolleys of laptops and wireless capability throughout the school supporting the 1:1 computer program.
Vocational programs are supported through the provision of kitchens, textile rooms, metal and woodwork workshops, graphics room, art rooms, a training office and eight science laboratories.
The school library was extensively renovated between 2011 and 2014 and we began a roll out of further renovations in 2017, starting with our Industrial Technology building, STEM Hub and Industrial kitchen. Science began in 2018 as did our introduction of air-conditioners. SSHS now provides a pleasant and functional learning environment for students.
The assembly hall is used for a range of school activities including badminton, volleyball, netball and basketball.
Our sporting facilities include tennis courts, a gym and outdoor basketball and volleyball courts. The oval is well maintained with an irrigation system and caters for a full range of outdoor programs. There are tartan tracks for jumps competitions.
The school canteen and uniform shop are operated by our Parents and Citizens Association.
