Junior
Health and Physical Education is a compulsory subject for all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 at Sunnybank State High School. Students participate in a range of traditional and emerging practical activities designed to develop their physical skills, complemented by theory lessons that explore key health topics. These include the human body, evaluating personal performance, managing transitions throughout school, and developing personal and social skills.
From Year 10 onwards, students can choose from a variety of Health and Physical Education electives that align with their interests and abilities. These offerings include Physical Education, Health, Sport and Recreation, and certificate courses in Fitness and Coaching.
Senior
Senior HPE subjects at Sunnybank State High School provide students with a range of pathways that support future careers in the health and fitness industry. The faculty offers two General subjects, Physical Education and Health Education, along with Sport and Recreation as an Applied subject. Students also have access to vocational options, including Certificates in Fitness, Coaching and Health.
